Milk Studios is buzzing with energy, literally. The Blind Barber is setting up a temporary outpost of their East Village-turned-bicoastal barber shop on the eighth floor and the clippers are flying on everyone from fashion editors to runway models. Owners Jeff Laub and Adam Kirsch partnered with Gillette to create the vintage-looking pop-up and is already loving the Made fashion week vibe. “You can feel the creative juices flowing the minute you walk in here,” Laub says.
Along with the trims that have made them famous with a certain savvy set, Laub and Kirsch are also known for pairing cuts with a cocktail (or three). Pull up at the accompanying bar and try an Old Man Winter (Belvedere vodka, Lillet, lemon juice and apple spice syrup) or the aptly named PYT (Pretty Young Thang) composed of Belvedere vodka, mint, blackberries, lime juice and honey. As for the duo, it’s their first full fashion week so they’re slightly wide-eyed, if not ready to bring their own brand of fun. “I have no idea what to expect, but I assume that it is going to be a lot of cuts, a lot of beards, a lot of booze and a lot of R. Kelly,” Laub says. “I kid about R. Kelly, but if you let us get a hold of the playlist you never know,” he adds. “And hopefully there will be a lot of models too – it never hurts right?”
