Last November, Joseph Altuzarra was honored with the 2011 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, giving the young designer not only a cash prize of $300,000, but also the incalculable award of a mentorship from fashion industry leaders. Joseph joins the ranks of designers like Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Alexander Wang and Vena Cava.
We could not have been more proud to see that the list of nominees for the 2011 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund shared many of the same designer names that show here at Milk Studios during MADE FASHION WEEK. Designers Antonio Azzuolo, Carlos Campos, Cushnie Et Ochs, Ohne Titel, Pamela Love, Suno and Altuzzara have all at one time been present at MADE FASHION WEEK.
Being nominated for such a prestigious award is in itself an accomplishment, and will shed an enormous spotlight onto a designers name. Both Altuzarra and runner up Pamela Love have both previously been nominated for the award - so it would be no surprise to see the name of next years winner in the roster of this last years nominees.
The Bootlegs crew was asked to film and interview the cast of nominated designers as they gathered together to preview their work in Los Angeles at The Chateau Marmont for the likes of Kate Bosworth, Aaron Eckhart, Olivia Wilde and American Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Legendary hairstylist Frederic Fekkai constructed a unique look specially for the event. In the video, he discusses this look and why it was chosen for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominees - while the nominees themselves discuss what it means to them to be nominated for the Fashion Fund.
