Save the cab fare, forget the train, and get on your bike. This season, the Fashion Center Business Improvement Association District partnered up with the CFDA’s new FashionIncubator program, MADE Fashion Week, and the Meatpacking District Improvement Association to highlight New York City’s storied Fashion District. Thirty handcrafted, designer bicycles adorned by tastemakers like Thom Browne, Doo.Ri , Diane von Furstenberg, and Betsey Johnson were welded, painted and assembled right here in NYC by Bowery Lane Bicycles.
You can borrow one of these embellished beauties for an hour at a time at one of the designated areas free of charge in the Meatpacking District and Fashion District. Just make sure you bring a valid I.D. and credit card to ensure the safe return of the bikes. Come September 16, the bikes will be auctioned to benefit the CFDA. Truly the gift that keeps on giving. Now put your pedal to the metal.
