Imitation of Christ, whose show venues have ranged from funeral parlors to a Paris playground, is known for setting itself apart from the pack. Asked for the reason behind this season’s wedding set, designer Tara Subkoff demurred. “There is no why,” she told MilkMade after her show. “I just want to make something beautiful happen.”

The new collection features damaged vintage textiles restored with embroidery and appliqué. But after the show, most of the talk was about Lydia Hearst. Inquiring minds want to know: did she really get married during the show?
