Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne founded the label in 2008, and the slick aw13 collection on show at MADE Fashion Week last night bore all the hallmarks of an established fashion house. Preppy thug separates - a fitted leather tunic worn over an ombre effect plaid Oxford or under a slim single breasted blazer; cropped, tailored pants, worn alone or under longer length board shorts; a fitted shearling jacket with a high funnel neck - were perfectly cut, and styled to look the last word in modern.
The duo met working at P Diddy’s Sean John label, and bring an high level of integrity to their fledgling brand - all items are manufactured out of New York, in factories based in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, a principal that no doubt appeals to celebrity fans like NYC native A$AP Rocky, who showed up in support of the MADE presentation with many members of the A$AP Mob in tow. Titled “When No-one’s Looking”, the other stand out pieces were an immaculate cashmere silk faille tuxedo and an eminently wearable (perfect?) pared back leather biker. Shoes produced in collaboration with Generic Man meanwhile, leant a futuristic touch.
