Milk Made's Count Down to "Moving The Still"

November 27, 2012 / Kalvin Lazarte

This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Graphic Interchange Format, otherwise known as the GIF. Like most technologies that are built, the artistic community have found ways to not only utilize GIFs as tools, but to also create an entirely new art form out of the medium. This is a cause for celebration! So, on Wednesday December 5th, Paddle 8, TumblrSmartwater, Milk Studios and MADE will be joining forces to put together Moving The Still: A Gif Festival, taking place right in the heart of Miami's Art Basel. A panel of judges that consist of names such as musician Michael Stipe, writer James Frey, fashion house Rodarte and the creative director of Mugler, Nicola Formichetti.

After thousands of entries have been made to Moving The Still via their Tumblr page, submissions are now closed to allow the panel of judges to deliberate and the team at Paddle 8 to begin curating the gallery in Wynwood. While we wait anxiously for the doors to open to this event, we thought we would share with you our top 10 favorite submissions that we have seen come in over the past few weeks, starting with our number #10 and working our way down the list.

Remember, these GIFs in no way reflect the GIFs that will be showcased on Dec 5th through the 8th in the gallery - they are just really radical submissions and so we wanted to show them off.
